Requirements of the role include:

  • You must be a current UK PCV licence holder
  • You must have a Driver Qualification Card or Certificate if you passed your PCV test on or after 10th September 2008
  • You must not have more than 3 penalty points as a PCV licence holder
  • You must not have any drink driving or drug offences within the last five years
  • You must be a safe and considerate driver
  • You must be customer focused at all times
  • You must be able communicate in English effectively both verbally and in writing
  • You will need to be prepared to work shifts
  • You should have a valid passport or birth certificate
  • You should have a minimum of 12 months visa documentation or longer before the date of expiry

PCV Driver training is also available. You must hold a full UK driving licence and have no penalty points or driving convictions.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for the position of Engineering Manager based at our Battersea Depot – Gold Award winner for London Bus Garage of the year 2014.

This role will contribute to the success of Abellio London and Surrey, recent winner of London Bus Operator of the Year.

You would join a busy and demanding team and so we’re looking for candidates who can bring new ideas and ways of working to help the team achieve its objectives. It is also important candidates have the initiative and drive to make things happen.

The role will report to the Engineering Director with the day to day responsibility for running the Engineering facilities in accordance with the Company’s policies and standards in order to deliver a consistently reliable, safe, high quality and punctual service in line with specified targets, contractual obligations and commercial objectives. You will need management experience supported by initiative and flexibility towards all situations.

The main responsibilities of the position are:

  • To control engineering resources within your garage

  • To ensure sufficient vehicles, to the required standard of reliability, presentation and condition.

  • To oversee planned and unplanned maintenance and deal with technical problems, personnel, negotiations, stock control and budget interpretation.

  • To motivate your team therefore leadership qualities will be critical. Lead Engineering resource to drive performance from the engineering function

  • Effectively manage engineering and maintenance budget Initiate projects and investigate opportunities to reduce spend

Develop and drive HSE procedures in conjunction with Engineering Director and HSE Manager. Ensure legislative compliance and adherence to company Policies.

An exciting new opportunity has arisen for an iBus Controller in our Performance Department, who will assist in ensuring that the Abellio London network of services is managed efficiently in order to exceed target criteria. The successful applicants will monitor and manage routes using the iBus system, ensuring that required levels of performance are delivered.

Reporting to the relevant Performance Manager the successful applicant will be required to:

  • Manage routes under their control to the required levels of performance in either EWT or On Time performance.
  • To be fully conversant with the iBus control strategies and complete role specific paperwork, eg, mileage tracker, event logs, i.e. code blue or red, GDIS, radio fault log, curtailment sheets, FNOL, as and when required.
  • Record and log incidents. Accurately record details of lost mileage.
  • Liaise with Roadside Controllers, Performance Managers, TfL, CentreComm, TSG and London Bus Officials with regards to service disruptions, in order to meet the required performance standards.
  • Ensure that all company rules and regulations are adhered to and communicate incidents that may affect operations to appropriate managers and directors.
  • Support and promote a Health and Safety culture.

ATF Lane Supervisor – Twickenham DepotBack to top

We currently have an excellent career opportunity for an MOT Station Supervisor based at our Twickenham depot.

The successful candidate’s main responsibilities will be to effectively supervise all test station matters within the engineering function. The role will run the ATF commercial test lane dealing with other operators and making sure they have the correct paperwork before presenting their vehicles, maintain the Company pass rate and final check of all Abellio vehicles before presenting them for test, keep test station equipment calibrated and up to date and build and maintain a good working relationship with the DVSA vehicle Examiners, keep the test station running smoothly, clean and tidy.

Applicants will be required to have a minimum qualification Level 3 NVQ plus full FTA and DVSA inspection Certificate.

The role will report to the ATF Test Facilities Supervisor.

The successful applicant will assist the Management Team in carrying out administration and office duties for all matters related to the depot and its effective management.

The Role

This role will contribute to the success of Abellio London and Surrey, recent winner of London Bus Operator of the Year. We have a fantastic opportunity to join the team as a Senior HR Advisor supporting the Senior HR Business Partner and HR management team with a number of people initiatives.

Key accountabilities will include:

  • Responsible for providing advice/ support on Employee Relations cases including arranging meetings, sending correspondence, updating the ER tracker, creating accurate electronic ER bundles for cases, attending meetings and providing specialist advice to directors and managers in line with employment law legislation / best practice / the correct interpretation of the Company’s HR policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for the governance of employee files that are held within the Human Resources department to ensure accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Support the HR management team with Employment Tribunal case administration.
  • Support the HR management team with reviewing and updating policies/ procedures and template documentation in line with developments in employment legislation and best practice.
  • Assist with the provision of recruitment & selection activities for all levels of personnel including drafting staff notices, advertising vacancies, managing applications, issuing correspondence, coordinating interviews, drafting offer letters/ contract of employment and obtaining references.
  • Manage the exit interview process within the Company, reporting on key reasons why employees leave the business.
  • Support the management of the Company employee benefits programme.
  • Support the HR management team with compiling the monthly people report.
  • Organising and minute taking in departmental meetings.
  • General administrative duties including photocopying, scanning staff files, opening and distributing mail etc.

We are looking for a proactive, positive individual who is results and solutions focused with excellent communication skills.

You must have experience of providing high quality HR advice, coaching, support and guidance to senior managers with the ability to manage a heavy ER caseload.

Outstanding organisational skills are required for this role and an ability to adapt ways of working to respond to changes in priorities. A keen awareness of our customers and a resilience to provide excellent customer service under pressure is also essential. You will have the ability to create effective working relationships with a number of stakeholders, allowing you to influence and promote the people agenda.
