Our Battersea depot has something very special to celebrate, as fleet manager Mike Harvey has received an MBE (Member of the Order of the British Empire). Mike has been awarded the prestigious honour in the Queen’s Jubilee birthday honours list.

Mike, who is based at our Battersea depot, has been recognised for this special award for his services and dedication to his team and their families during the pandemic. He took the lead for Abellio on new safety measures and processes to support the delivery of bus services in the capital and implemented new processes in record time to keep passengers and drivers safe.

Throughout the pandemic Mike went well above expectations as a leader and supported his team and their families through illness and loss. He did this despite being at high risk of the most serious symptoms of the virus himself.

Mike has worked for Abellio London Bus for seven years following an engineering degree, a period in the Navy as an anti submarine warfare specialist, and winning two world bodybuilding titles. We are delighted that his dedication and team spirit have been rewarded at the highest level, congratulations Mike!

Mike said: ”I am deeply honoured to be receiving an MBE from the Queen for my work during COVID. I am humbled by this award, I was supporting my teams and their families and would do the same again in a heartbeat.”

Jon Eardley, Managing Director, Abellio London Bus, said: “Mike is an inspiration to all of us and a credit to transport workers everywhere, his dedication to customers and team during the pandemic helped to keep people safe. The support he provided to his team and their families during an incredibly difficult time, despite risks to his own health, is truly worthy of this great honour from Her Majesty the Queen.”
